Defination:

The paranasal sinuses are air-filled cavities located within the facial bones surrounding the nasal cavity.
They are paired and symmetrical, and there are four main sets of them:

Maxillary sinuses: The largest of the paranasal sinuses, located in the cheekbones under the eyes.

Frontal sinuses: Located in the forehead bone above the eyebrows.

Ethmoid sinuses: Located between the eyes and nose, composed of many small air cells within the ethmoid bone.

Sphenoid sinuses: Located deep behind the nose, within the sphenoid bone at the base of the skull.

Function:

main function of paranasal sinuses are reducing the weight of the skull
